A Yorkshire farmer contacted the Yorkshire Post for an obituary for his wife of 50 years. He was shocked at the cost quoted and said to the girl on the 'phone "I just want something short and simple - just put 'Gladys Smith died'". "You need to say when she died" said the receptionist. "OK - put died 17th November 2018. That'll do." "You usually say something meaningful about the dear departed" she told him. "OK - put sadly missed." "You can have another 4 words for the same price" she said. "OK - thanks. Please add 'and tractor for sale'".
