Why Choose Me To Write Your Speech Rather Than ChatGPT?
The difference between one of my speeches and a ChatGPT speech is the
difference between a suit you might buy in the High Street and a bespoke suit
that is tailor-made for you. The High Street suit will probably be quite a good
suit and it may fit you quite well, but the tailor-made suit will be made for you
and will take account of all aspects and details of your body shape, and you
will have several fittings to enable the tailor to achieve that. No two bodies are
exactly the same!
The dictionary definition of ‘bespoke’ is “a product made specifically according
to the needs of an individual customer.” And that applies to a suit and to a
high-end kitchen and it most definitely applies to my speeches. I spend as
much time as may be necessary to get to know my client well enough to
enable me to write a speech that is right for that client - using words and
expressions the client uses, and getting a feel for that client’s sense of humour
(very important). We express our feelings and emotions in different ways and
as a writer I have to know someone fairly well to get that right. The quality of
my speeches matters far more to me than the money I’m paid - so I don’t mind
how much time I spend on emails or the phone and I don’t mind how many
drafts it might take to get a speech absolutely right for the particular individual.
I don’t want members of the audience nudging each other during one of my
speeches and saying ‘A great speech - I wonder who he got to write it?’
AI chatbots don’t have feelings - they are just very good at working out which
words to put in the right order. They know nothing about the person they are
talking to. To illustrate the point, take a teacher for example. There is a lot
more to teaching than knowledge regurgitation. A good teacher knows how to
recognise when a child is tired, hungry or sad - and knows how to respond
accordingly. That is the difference between a person and a machine.
Feelings are incredibly important in many areas of life - and very definitely
when it comes to writing a good speech.
