A Problem with Secrecy

I was asked recently to write a speech for a big Masonic night. Everyone knows there’s quite a lot of secrecy surrounding the Masonic movement, which may explain why I was given a very limited amount of material to work with. As my brief included ‘plenty of jokes please’ I had to resort to Google to find some jokes about Masons. This brings two problems – most of the jokes you find on any given subject are simply not funny and secondly they have to be worked into some sort of relevant context. Not easy, but the fact that the speaker asked if he could pass my name on to others for similar events suggests that my work was well-received.
