During the last few years I’ve noticed a significant increase in the number of women speakers at weddings. Quite often the bride will choose to speak as well as the groom and it's not unusual for the bride's mother to speak instead of the father of the bride. I think this is an excellent trend, after all the bride will have been at least as involved in the wedding preparations as the groom and the bride’s mother is almost certain to have been more involved than her father – reflecting the broader generalisation that women tend to be better organisers than men
