A man from Barnet rang me the other day, looking for a local speechwriter to help him. He said he had put 'speechwriters in Barnet' into Google and told me I was top of the list. I was naturally flattered to be rated so highly in Barnet but I felt I should admit that I am in fact based in Oxford. By then we had established a good rapport and he was happy to ask me to help him with his father of the bride speech. It is in fact quite unusual for me to meet the people I write for.
